Helmond Sport Crest History
The earliest crests introduced after the split featured simple shield-based designs incorporating the club's initials and colours. These badges emphasised the creation of a new professional football club while maintaining links to Helmond's football traditions.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the crest underwent several refinements. While the overall concept remained largely unchanged, updates to typography, shield shapes and graphic styling reflected broader trends in football branding. Despite these adjustments, the club consistently preserved its traditional colours and straightforward identity.
A significant redesign arrived in the 1990s, introducing a cleaner and more modern shield. The new badge prominently featured the club name together with a stylised football, creating a more professional appearance while remaining faithful to the club's heritage.
Helmond Sport Club History
Founded on 27 July 1967, Helmond Sport was created when the professional football section of RKSV Helmondia '55 separated from the amateur club and formed an independent professional organisation. The new club was established to represent the city of Helmond in Dutch professional football and quickly became one of the most recognisable clubs in North Brabant.
The greatest success in the club's history arrived during the 1981–82 season, when Helmond Sport won the Eerste Divisie championship. The title secured promotion to the Eredivisie and remains one of the club's proudest achievements.
The club's old home ground, Stadion De Braak, became one of the most traditional venues in Dutch professional football. Located close to the city centre, the stadium was renowned for its intimate atmosphere and strong connection with the local community. For generations of supporters, De Braak symbolised the identity of Helmond Sport.
A major milestone in the club's modern history arrived in 2025 with the opening of the new GS Staalwerken Stadion, part of the wider Campus De Braak development. A
Helmond Sport developed several regional rivalries, particularly with fellow Brabant clubs such as FC Eindhoven, FC Den Bosch, NAC Breda, TOP Oss and Willem II. These matches often carried extra significance due to local pride and decades of competition.
