Huddersfield Town AFC Ground & Tickets

Ground: Accu Stadium (John Smith's Stadium)

Capacity: 24,121

Location: Stadium Way, Huddersfield

Country: United Kingdom

The Ground

  • The Accu Stadium, located just outside Huddersfield town centre, has been the proud home of Huddersfield Town AFC since 1994. Built to replace the club’s long-serving Leeds Road ground, it marked the start of a new era for the Terriers, giving them a modern base that reflected both ambition and progress. It also serves as the home of Huddersfield Giants rugby league club, making it a true multi-sport venue at the heart of West Yorkshire.

  • With a capacity of around 24,000, the John Smith’s Stadium blends contemporary design with the passion of one of England’s oldest league clubs. Its distinctive curved-roof stands create an eye-catching silhouette while keeping fans close to the action. The Revell Ward (Kilner Bank) Stand is the largest and most striking, rising steeply and providing spectacular views of the pitch. The Fantastic Media Stand houses hospitality and press facilities, while the Chadwick Lawrence (South) Stand is home to the club’s most vocal support, driving the team on with colour and noise. The Abzorb (North) Stand is usually allocated to visiting supporters, ensuring lively matchday encounters.

  • The stadium’s story is one of regeneration and vision. Opened in the mid-1990s, it was one of the first modern, all-seater football grounds in the country, winning architectural awards for its bold design. While it doesn’t carry the century-old heritage of Leeds Road, it has already witnessed unforgettable chapters in Huddersfield’s history — from their rise back to the Championship to the incredible Premier League adventure between 2017 and 2019, which saw the Terriers take on English football’s biggest clubs.

  • Located a short distance from Huddersfield Railway Station and easily accessible from the M62, the John Smith’s Stadium is both a landmark of modern football architecture and a gathering point for supporters across West Yorkshire. More than just a ground, it represents Huddersfield’s proud footballing tradition, reimagined for a new era.

Around the Stadium

Before and After the Match

  • The Magic Rock Taproom (Willow Lane). The official fan-favourite craft beer bar, located just a short walk from the stadium. Modern, spacious, and always buzzing with blue-and-white scarves on matchdays. With Magic Rock Brewery at its heart, it’s the closest you’ll get to a fanzone atmosphere in Huddersfield.

  • The Gas Club (Gasworks Street). Right next to the stadium, this traditional supporters’ venue is hugely popular on matchdays. Known for cheap drinks, a lively football atmosphere, and plenty of chanting, it’s the go-to old-school stop before heading through the turnstiles.

  • The Head of Steam (St George’s Square, Town Centre). A large, lively pub opposite Huddersfield Railway Station. Spacious, affordable, and packed with Town fans on matchdays, it’s the perfect meeting point for groups arriving by train before the short walk to the ground.

  • The Slubbers Arms (Redfearn Street). A proper Huddersfield institution just a short stroll from the stadium. Famous for its real ales and no-nonsense atmosphere, it gets rammed with locals before games and delivers a classic football pub experience.

  • Kings Head (St George’s Square, Town Centre). Another station-side favourite, located in the old railway hotel. Big, traditional, and football-focused, it’s a convenient pre-match option with plenty of room for both locals and travelling supporters.

  • The Parish (Kirkgate, Town Centre). A pub with a more alternative vibe, combining live music with matchday pints. About 15 minutes from the stadium, it’s popular with younger fans and those who want something a bit different before kick-off.

  • The Sportsman (St John’s Road). Around 10 minutes’ walk from the ground, this award-winning pub is known for its real ale selection and relaxed feel. A calmer choice for fans who want a quality pint without the intensity of the busier football pubs.

  • The Grove (Springwood). A community favourite a little further out (15–20 minutes’ walk). Quirky, welcoming, and well-stocked with craft and cask ales, it’s a more laid-back option but still draws plenty of matchgoing Town fans.
