The first modern crest, used between 2000 and 2010, featured a blue shield with red-and-white vertical stripes, an eagle perched on a football, and the words "Gloria Buzău." This emblem represented the club during its most successful years, including several seasons in Romania's top division.
In 2010, the club adopted a bold triangular badge displaying the words "Fotbal Club Gloria Buzău." The simplified red-and-blue design retained the club's traditional colours while presenting a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.
Following financial difficulties and the club's reorganisation, a new crest was introduced in 2016 under Sport Club Municipal Gloria Buzău. The badge incorporated the city skyline, a laurel wreath and the year 2017, symbolising a new beginning while maintaining the club's historic identity.
Between 2017 and 2021, the club used a modern circular logo featuring the initials "B" and "B" together with a laurel branch. This minimalist design reflected the municipal ownership of the club and represented its rebuilding phase following its return to competitive football.
In 2021, the club introduced its current crest after another organisational restructuring. The modern shield-shaped badge features the words "Fotbal Club Buzău" beneath the banner "Asociația Sportivă", together with a football in the lower section. The design returns to a more traditional football crest while preserving the club's characteristic red, white and blue colours and reinforcing its connection with the city of Buzău.
FC Gloria Buzau Club History
Founded in 1973, Gloria Buzău is one of Romania's best-known provincial football clubs. Based in the city of Buzău, approximately 100 kilometres northeast of Bucharest, the club has long represented the region with pride, competing across both the top and second tiers of Romanian football. Wearing its traditional red and blue colours, Gloria has earned a reputation as a resilient club with passionate local support.
After its formation, Gloria spent much of its early history developing in the lower divisions before steadily climbing the Romanian football pyramid. The club first reached the Divizia A (now Liga I) in the 1984–85 season, marking the beginning of several memorable spells in Romania's top flight.
Gloria enjoyed its most successful period during the 2000s, becoming an established Liga I club. The team regularly competed against Romania's traditional giants and achieved several impressive league finishes. In the 2008–09 season, Gloria qualified for the UEFA Europa League, recording one of the greatest achievements in the club's history by reaching European competition for the first time.
Despite its sporting success, financial difficulties increasingly affected the club during the 2010s. Mounting debts eventually led to insolvency and the dissolution of the original FC Gloria Buzău in 2016, bringing an end to more than four decades of continuous football history.
Determined to preserve football in the city, local authorities established SCM Gloria Buzău in 2016 as a successor club. Beginning in the lower divisions, the new organisation quickly progressed through the Romanian league system with strong municipal backing. In 2021, the football section was reorganised once again under the name FC Buzău, continuing the sporting tradition of Gloria while maintaining its historic colours and identity.
The club returned to Liga I after winning promotion from Liga II, marking the revival of top-flight football in Buzău. Although the modern club is legally distinct from the original organisation, it is widely regarded by supporters as the continuation of Gloria Buzău's football heritage.
Gloria's principal rivalry is with Oțelul Galați, while regional matches against Petrolul Ploiești and Unirea Slobozia have also attracted considerable local interest in recent years.
