The earliest known crest of Amiens Sporting Club featured a simple shield divided diagonally into red and blue, the club's traditional colours. The gold initials "ASC" were placed prominently across the top of the badge, creating a clean and distinctive identity. The design reflected the style of many early French football clubs, placing emphasis on the club's initials rather than elaborate symbolism.
In 1984, Amiens introduced a much more modern and colourful crest. The shield adopted a red lower section and a blue upper section, with the word "AMIENS" displayed in a stylised geometric typeface. A large intertwined ASC monogram dominated the centre of the badge, giving the club a bold and contemporary visual identity that stood out from its earlier, simpler emblem.
The crest was refined again in 1991, retaining the same overall concept while simplifying the proportions and improving the balance between the lettering and the intertwined monogram. The shield became slightly more angular, while the blue background was expanded to create a cleaner and more harmonious appearance without departing from the club's established identity.
A completely new direction arrived in 1994. Amiens abandoned the colourful shield in favour of a minimalist white badge outlined in red. Large black ASC initials occupied the centre, accompanied by two short red diagonal stripes inspired by the club's historic colours. The full name "Amiens Sporting Club Football" appeared beneath, reflecting the clean and corporate branding style that became popular among football clubs during the 1990s.
In 1998, the club unveiled one of the most recognisable crests in its history. The new shield introduced two rearing unicorns, inspired by the coat of arms of the city of Amiens, facing each other above the intertwined ASC initials. The monochrome silver-and-white design also featured the club name, the word "Football", and a ribbon displaying the founding year 1901. The redesign gave Amiens a unique heraldic identity closely connected to the city's history and traditions.
To celebrate the club's 120th anniversary, Amiens released a special commemorative crest for the 2021–22 season. The badge retained the unicorns and intertwined initials but adopted a burgundy-and-white colour scheme, while the inscription "120 ANS" was added above the shield. This anniversary emblem paid tribute to the club's long history while preserving the symbolism supporters had come to identify with.
In 2022, Amiens introduced a refined version of the unicorn crest that remains in use today. The design adopted a clean black-and-white colour palette with simplified lines and improved readability. The two unicorns, intertwined ASC monogram, club name, founding year and laurel branches were all retained, creating a modern interpretation of the heraldic identity introduced in 1998 while ensuring the badge remained effective across digital media and club branding.
Amiens SC Club History
Founded in 1901 as Amiens Athlétic Club (AAC) by a group of young students in the city of Amiens, the club is one of the oldest football institutions in France. During its early decades, AAC dominated football in the Picardy region, winning numerous regional championships and becoming a regular participant in the national amateur championship. In 1933, the club adopted professional status for the first time, although financial difficulties led to a return to amateur football in 1952. The club later became Sporting Club d'Amiens in 1961 before adopting its current name, Amiens Sporting Club (Amiens SC), in 1989.
Amiens spent much of the twentieth century alternating between the amateur and semi-professional divisions while steadily building a reputation for resilience. Promotion to the second tier came in 1978, marking an important milestone in the club's development.
