FK Haugesund Crest History
From 1993 to 2017, FK Haugesund used a crest centred on a grey seagull flying across a blue-and-white football. Beneath the emblem appeared the club's name, FK Haugesund, in blue lettering. The seagull symbolised Haugesund's strong connection to the North Sea and the city's proud maritime heritage, while also giving rise to the club's nickname, "Måkene" (The Seagulls). The football represented the club's sporting identity following its formation in 1993 through the merger of the football departments of SK Haugar and Djerv 1919. The clean, modern design became closely associated with FK Haugesund's rise through the Norwegian league system and its establishment in the Eliteserien.
In 2013, to celebrate the club's 20th anniversary, FK Haugesund introduced a special commemorative crest. The badge took the form of a circular emblem featuring a large 20, with the football and seagull integrated into the number. The club's foundation date, 28.10.1993, appeared at the top, while laurel branches flanked the central design as symbols of achievement and growth. The words FK Haugesund curved around the lower part of the badge, and a ring of stars completed the anniversary emblem. This special crest was used only during the club's twentieth-anniversary celebrations.
Since 2018, FK Haugesund has adopted a much more minimalist visual identity. The traditional football was removed, leaving a stylised blue seagull as the club's primary symbol. The bird is depicted in a sleek, modern silhouette above the wordmark FKHAUGESUND, emphasising simplicity and recognisability.

FK Haugesund Club History
Fotballklubben Haugesund (FK Haugesund) was founded on 28 October 1993 in Haugesund, Norway, through the merger of the football departments of local rivals SK Haugar and Djerv 1919. The merger was created with the ambition of establishing a club capable of competing at the highest level of Norwegian football while allowing the two parent clubs to continue their youth and amateur activities independently. The new club adopted the city's traditional blue and white colours and quickly became the leading football representative of the Haugaland region.
FK Haugesund began life in the lower divisions of Norwegian football but progressed steadily through the league system. After several successful seasons, the club earned promotion to the Norwegian First Division and established itself as one of the strongest teams outside the top flight. Its first promotion to the Eliteserien came in 1996, although the club was immediately relegated after one season.
The breakthrough came in 2009, when FK Haugesund won promotion back to the Eliteserien under coach Jostein Grindhaug. Unlike its first spell in the top division, the club quickly established itself as a competitive and well-organised side. Haugesund earned impressive league finishes and became recognised for its disciplined football, strong youth development, and ability to compete with clubs possessing much larger budgets.
One of the most successful periods in the club's history came during the 2010s. FK Haugesund regularly finished in the upper half of the Eliteserien and qualified several times for the UEFA Europa League. The club recorded memorable European victories against opponents such as Coleraine, Lech Poznań, and Sturm Graz, helping to raise its international profile. During this period, Haugesund also became known for developing talented players who later moved to larger clubs in Norway and abroad.
FK Haugesund came close to winning its first major trophy on several occasions. The club reached the Norwegian Cup Final in 2007 and again in 2019, but was defeated by Lillestrøm SK and Viking FK, respectively. Despite these disappointments, both cup runs remain among the greatest achievements in the club's relatively short history.
Throughout its existence, FK Haugesund has built a reputation as one of Norway's best-managed clubs. Careful financial management, a strong academy, and close ties with the local community have enabled the club to remain competitive in the Eliteserien despite operating with comparatively modest resources.
The club's fiercest rivalry is with Viking FK, with meetings between the two clubs known as the Rogaland Derby, one of western Norway's biggest football rivalries. Matches against Sandnes Ulf and Bryne FK also carry regional significance, while encounters with Brann have become increasingly competitive due to frequent meetings in the top division.
