Atlético de San Luis Crest History
The crest of Atlético de San Luis reflects the identity of both the football club and the city of San Luis Potosí. Since the club's foundation in 2013, its badges have prominently featured the distinctive dome and lantern of the Caja del Agua, one of the city's best-known landmarks.
The original 2013–2016 crest used a circular design dominated by dark blue, white and gold. The name ATLÉTICO SAN LUIS surrounded the central image, while two footballs appeared on either side.
At the centre was a stylised representation of the Caja del Agua, directly connecting the newly established club with San Luis Potosí. This gave Atlético an immediately recognisable local identity despite its relatively recent foundation.
A major redesign followed in 2016, coinciding with a new phase in the club's development and its relationship with Atlético de Madrid. The circular badge was replaced by a more open and modern design.
The 2016–present crest retains the Caja del Agua as its central symbol but introduces red-and-white vertical stripes, clearly reflecting the visual influence of Atlético de Madrid and establishing the colours now associated with the team.
The words ATLÉTICO SAN LUIS surround the central design, while curved blue elements create a partial circular frame. The overall appearance combines the club's modern Atlético identity with an unmistakable symbol of its home city.
Although Atlético de San Luis has a relatively short crest history, both versions demonstrate strong continuity through the use of the Caja del Agua. The major change has therefore been in the surrounding colours and structure rather than the central symbol.
Today, the red, white and blue crest represents a combination of the club's connection with San Luis Potosí and the Atlético identity that has shaped its modern development.

Atlético de San Luis  Club History
Atlético de San Luis is a professional football club from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, founded in 2013. The club was created following the relocation of San Luis FC to Chiapas, ensuring that professional football continued to have a presence in the city.
The new club began competing in Ascenso MX, Mexico's second division, and adopted the Estadio Alfonso Lastras Ramírez as its home. From the beginning, Atlético de San Luis sought to establish an identity closely connected with the city and its football supporters.
The club's early years were characterised by instability. Atlético reached the Clausura 2015 Ascenso MX final, where it defeated Dorados de Sinaloa. However, it subsequently lost the promotion final against the same opponent and therefore remained outside Liga MX.
A major change came in 2017, when the ownership group behind Spanish club Atlético de Madrid acquired a significant interest in Atlético de San Luis. The partnership influenced the club's sporting structure, colours and visual identity, strengthening the use of the familiar red-and-white stripes.
Atlético de San Luis returned to Ascenso MX competition for the 2017–18 season and gradually developed into one of the division's strongest teams. The breakthrough came during the 2018–19 season under coach Alfonso Sosa.
San Luis won the Apertura 2018 championship by defeating Dorados de Sinaloa, then coached by Argentine legend Diego Maradona, in the final. The two clubs met again in the Clausura 2019 final, with Atlético de San Luis once again emerging victorious.
By winning both tournaments of the same Ascenso MX season, Atlético de San Luis secured automatic promotion to Liga MX. The achievement represented the most important milestone in the young club's history and returned top-flight football to San Luis Potosí.
Atlético made its Liga MX debut in 2019. Establishing itself in the highest division proved challenging, with coaching changes and inconsistent results marking the club's first seasons among Mexico's leading teams.
Gradually, however, San Luis became increasingly competitive. The club qualified for the Liga MX playoffs on several occasions and demonstrated an ability to challenge clubs with considerably greater financial resources and longer histories.
One of the club's strongest campaigns came in the Apertura 2023. Atlético de San Luis eliminated Monterrey in the quarter-finals and reached the Liga MX semi-finals, one of the best top-flight performances in the club's history.
Despite the influence of Atlético de Madrid, the club has maintained a strong local identity. The Caja del Agua, one of San Luis Potosí's most recognisable landmarks, remains central to the crest and symbolises the connection between the team and its home city.
The club's relatively young age means it does not possess the century-old rivalries associated with many traditional Mexican teams. However, matches against other clubs from central Mexico can carry additional regional significance, while the supporters of San Luis have maintained rivalries inherited partly from the city's earlier football history.
