The earliest crest, used during the RKSV Volendam era, featured a traditional shield design divided by a bold black diagonal band bearing the name Volendam. The initials R.K.S.V. appeared in the orange sections of the badge, referencing the club's original name, Rooms-Katholieke Sportvereniging Volendam. The orange background and distinctive dotted pattern gave the crest a unique appearance and established the colour scheme that would define the club for generations.
A major transformation arrived in 1977, when the club adopted the name FC Volendam and introduced a redesigned crest. While retaining the familiar shield shape and diagonal black stripe, the new badge replaced the RKSV initials with FC and incorporated symbols celebrating the village's maritime heritage. A sailboat and football were added to the lower section of the shield, reflecting Volendam's deep connection to fishing, sailing and local traditions.
A refined version of the badge was introduced in 2014. The redesign modernised the crest while remaining faithful to its traditional elements. The club name was updated to FC Volendam across the diagonal stripe, the shield was given cleaner outlines and improved proportions, and the maritime symbols were redrawn for greater clarity and balance. Founded on 1 June 1920 as RKSV Volendam(Rooms-Katholieke Sportvereniging Volendam), FC Volendam is one of the most distinctive clubs in Dutch football.
