FK Teplice Crest History

In 2010, FK Teplice introduced a refined version of its traditional crest that combined the club's long-established yellow-and-blue colours with a clean circular design. The badge featured the initials FK at its centre, surrounded by the words Fotbalový klub Teplice on a yellow outer ring, with two small footballs completing the composition. The minimalist design reflected the club's modern identity while maintaining continuity with earlier crests and accompanied FK Teplice through a successful period that included regular appearances in the Czech First League and European competitions. The emblem remained the club's primary symbol for more than a decade.

In 2023, as part of celebrations marking 120 years of organised football in Teplice, the club unveiled a completely redesigned crest alongside a new visual identity. The circular badge was replaced by a modern blue shield outlined in yellow and centred on the bold white initials FK. According to the club, the shield shape was inspired by the first crest used by SK Teplice-Šanov between 1945 and 1948, while the prominent initials referenced the historic Teplitzer FK 03, the city's leading pre-war football club. The yellow border and central typographic motif also paid tribute to the modern crest introduced in 1995, creating a design that blended historic influences with a contemporary minimalist style. 

FK Teplice Club History

Founded in 1945 as SK Teplice-Šanov, FK Teplice was established shortly after the end of the Second World War by a group of local football enthusiasts determined to restore organised football to the city. The new club inherited the football tradition of the pre-war Teplitzer FK 03, one of the strongest German clubs in Czechoslovakia before 1945, and remarkably reached the Czechoslovak First League within just three years of its foundation, an achievement that remains unique in Czech football history. Under innovative coach Zdeněk Šteflík, Teplice became one of the first clubs in the country to adopt the modern WM tactical system, helping establish itself among the national elite.

The club enjoyed immediate success in the top flight, finishing third in the 1952 Czechoslovak Championship. However, political reforms following the communist takeover brought a series of enforced name changes, with the club competing as Sokol Teplice, Technomat Teplice, Vodotechna Teplice, Ingstav Teplice, Tatran Teplice, Slovan Teplice and later Sklo Union Teplice. Despite strong performances on the pitch, Teplice was controversially removed from the top division in 1953 because of the state's reorganisation of sport rather than sporting results, beginning a long period outside the highest level of Czechoslovak football.

Following the political changes of 1989, the club gradually returned to its historic identity. After competing briefly under names including FK Sklo Union Teplice, FK VTJ Teplice and FK Frydrych Teplice, it officially became FK Teplice in 1995. The following year, the club won promotion to the Czech First League, beginning the most successful era in its modern history. Playing attractive attacking football, Teplice quickly established itself as one of the country's leading provincial clubs.

The club's greatest achievement came in 2002–03, when it won the Czech Cup by defeating Slovan Liberec in the final. The triumph secured qualification for the UEFA Cup, where Teplice enjoyed memorable European campaigns, defeating clubs including Kaiserslautern and Feyenoord, while also reaching the third round in 2003–04. During the 2000s and early 2010s, Teplice became a regular challenger for European qualification, finishing in the Czech First League's top half on numerous occasions and establishing itself as one of the league's most consistent clubs. 

FK Teplice's principal rivalry is with FK Jablonec, with the two clubs regularly contesting the North Bohemian Derby as the leading teams from northern Czechia. Teplice also shares a long-standing regional rivalry with FC Slovan Liberec.
