The Ground
Stair Park, nestled in the coastal town of Stranraer in southwest Scotland, has been the home of Stranraer FC since 1907. Modest in scale but rich in character, it stands as a proud symbol of lower-league Scottish football, where community spirit and dedication run just as deep as at the grandest arenas. For supporters of the Blues, Stair Park is far more than a football ground — it is a gathering place where local identity, loyalty, and tradition are woven into every matchday experience.
With a capacity of just over 4,000, Stair Park offers an intimate and authentic football atmosphere. The ground is best known for its covered main stand along one side of the pitch, providing seated accommodation and protection from the often brisk coastal weather. Opposite lies a mix of terracing and open space, while the ends behind the goals retain a classic, no-frills feel that reflects the club’s humble roots. The proximity of supporters to the pitch ensures that every shout, chant, and moment of drama is felt up close.
Though it lacks the scale and grandeur of larger stadiums, Stair Park possesses something equally valuable: authenticity. It remains a cornerstone of the local community, hosting not just football but events and gatherings that keep the club at the heart of Stranraer life. In an era of modern arenas and global audiences, Stair Park stands as a reminder of football’s grassroots soul, simple, proud, and deeply connected to the people it represents.
