The Ground
New Douglas Park, nestled in the town of Hamilton in South Lanarkshire, currently serves as the home of Clyde FC. Founded in 1877, the Bully Wee carry one of Scottish football’s most nomadic histories, and this modern ground represents the latest chapter in a long and resilient journey. Though not the club’s original Glasgow home, it provides a compact and intimate setting where Clyde’s proud traditions continue to endure.
With a capacity of around 6,000, New Douglas Park offers a tight, enclosed arena that keeps supporters close to the pitch. Originally opened in 2001, the stadium features a covered main stand with hospitality and club facilities, complemented by smaller stands behind the goals and opposite. Its design prioritises proximity, fans are never far from the action, ensuring that every cheer, chant, and shout travels sharply across the turf.
On matchdays, the black, red, and white colours of Clyde add a distinct identity to the surroundings. The Bully Wee faithful gather in familiar clusters, their support shaped by decades of perseverance through relocations from Barrowfield to Shawfield, Broadwood, and beyond. There is a strong sense of defiance and loyalty in the air, a reminder that while stadiums may change, club spirit does not.
While New Douglas Park is officially a groundshare arrangement rather than a permanent base, it has become a focal point for Clyde’s operations and ambitions. Hospitality suites, community events, and matchday gatherings keep the club visible and active as it continues to explore long-term plans for a permanent home closer to its historical roots.

Around the Stadium
Before and After the Match
The Windmill Tavern (Windmillhill Street). One of the most popular pre-match stops near the stadium. Around a 5-minute walk from New Douglas Park, it’s spacious, lively, and well used to handling football crowds. Big screens, quick service, and a steady buzz build nicely ahead of kick-off.
The South Dalziel Studios (Airbles Road). A proper local just a short stroll from the ground. Compact and friendly, it draws a regular football crowd and has that authentic Scottish pub atmosphere that suits lower-league matchdays perfectly.
The Railway Tavern (Clydesdale Street). Ideal for fans arriving by train at Hamilton West. Traditional décor, decent pints, and a steady stream of supporters gathering before making their way to the stadium.
The Brandon Works – Wetherspoons (Brandon Parade South). A larger, budget-friendly option about 10–15 minutes’ walk from the ground. Good for groups or travelling supporters arriving early in town who want food and drink in one place before heading over.
The New Century Bar (Merry Street). A lively Hamilton town-centre pub with a loyal local crowd. Matchday chat flows freely here, and it’s a popular post-match spot to dissect the afternoon’s performance.
The Woodcutter (Merry Street). Slightly more modern in feel, this bar offers a good drinks selection and plenty of space. A solid meeting point before walking up toward Cadzow Avenue.
The Burnbank Bar (Burnbank Road). A more traditional community pub slightly west of the town centre. Friendly and relaxed, it’s a good option if you prefer something quieter away from the busiest town-centre venues.
Ravenscraig Sports Facility Bar (O’Donnell Way). A modern sports complex bar with parking nearby, making it convenient for supporters driving in. Comfortable and family-friendly pre-match option.
