The Ground

  • The County Ground, located just east of Swindon town centre in Wiltshire, has been the home of Swindon Town Football Club since 1896. Nestled near residential areas and public parks, it is one of the most historic stadiums in the English Football League still in regular use today.

  • Originally opened in 1896, the stadium was purpose-built for Swindon Town and has hosted professional football ever since. Over the decades, the County Ground has seen multiple redevelopments, including the construction of its iconic Arkell's Stand in 1971 and various structural upgrades to meet modern safety standards.

  • Today, the County Ground is owned and operated by Swindon Town FC. With a seating capacity of approximately 15,728, it is a mid-sized ground, known for its strong acoustics and the passionate following of the Town End, where the club’s most vocal supporters gather.

  • The stadium follows a four-stand layout, comprising a mix of all-seater sections and traditional-style areas. These include the Arkell’s Stand (East), Don Rogers Stand (South), Town End (North), and the Stratton Bank (West), which features open seating and an old-school scoreboard. The ground provides excellent sightlines and remains a favorite for visiting fans due to its proximity to the pitch and accessible location.
