The Ground
The bet365 Stadium, located in the Trentham Lakes area of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, has been the home of Stoke City Football Club since 1997. Purpose-built to replace the club’s historic Victoria Ground, it reflects a shift towards modern, all-seater arenas.
The stadium officially opened in August 1997, marking the end of Stoke’s 119-year stay at the Victoria Ground. Designed with functionality and atmosphere in mind, it originally featured three fully connected stands and a smaller open corner, giving it a distinctive asymmetric look. A major redevelopment in 2017 enclosed that corner, raising capacity and improving acoustics, while further refurbishments enhanced concourses, hospitality areas, and fan facilities. With its steep stands and close proximity to the pitch, the bet365 Stadium has earned a reputation for its noise and intensity, especially during Stoke’s Premier League years.
Today, the bet365 Stadium remains owned and operated by Stoke City FC, serving as both the club’s home ground and a hub for regional events. Its current all-seated capacity stands at approximately 30,000, aligning it closely in scale with many top-flight grounds, and the site includes the club’s training facilities, retail store, and conferencing suites.
Since its opening, the bet365 Stadium has become a sporting landmark for Stoke-on-Trent, symbolising the city’s resilience and footballing identity. Unlike inner-city stadiums hemmed in by terraced streets, it sits in a broader development zone beside the A50, with expansive parking, easy motorway access, and nearby leisure and retail facilities enhancing the visitor experience.

How to get to the Stadium
By train
Train to Stoke-on-Trent Station. It’s on the West Coast Main Line, with regular direct services from London Euston, Manchester, Birmingham, and Derby. From the station, walking is possible but not the most convenient, as it takes around 35–40 minutes along main roads and industrial areas. On matchdays, Stoke City often runs shuttle buses from the station and town centre direct to the stadium. These usually run before and after the game to help supporters get to and from Stoke station. By Bus: Local buses (e.g. numbers 20, 21, 23, 25) run from the station area towards Trentham Lakes and stop near the stadium. By Taxi: A taxi from outside the station takes around 10 minutes.
By Car
Via M6 motorway. Parking Options: Official Car Parks: The stadium has several official car parks (West, South, and East). Spaces are limited and must often be pre-booked for matchdays. Nearby Alternatives: Some independent car parks and businesses near the stadium offer paid parking. Street parking is very limited and local restrictions are enforced on matchdays.
Airport
Manchester Airport (MAN)
Distance: 38 miles (61 km) north of Stoke-on-Trent. Driving time: 45–50 minutes via M6. By train: Around 1 hour – direct trains run from Manchester Airport to Stoke-on-Trent station, which is about 2 miles from the stadium.
