The Ground
Montgomery Waters Meadow, located on Oteley Road in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, has been the home of Shrewsbury Town Football Club since 2007.
The stadium officially opened in July 2007, replacing the club’s long-serving Gay Meadow ground, which had been their home for over 97 years. Built to meet modern Football League standards and to provide room for growth, the new ground offered upgraded facilities for players, supporters, and the community. Its four distinct stands provide clear sightlines and keep fans close to the pitch, helping to maintain a strong matchday atmosphere despite its relatively modern design.
Today, Montgomery Waters Meadow is owned and operated by Shrewsbury Town FC and has a capacity of around 9,875. The West Stand houses the main seating area, hospitality suites, and club offices, while the other three stands combine seating and terracing to cater to different supporter preferences. This mix allows the club to preserve elements of a traditional football experience while providing contemporary amenities
Situated about two miles south of Shrewsbury town centre, the stadium is easily accessible by car and public transport. Shrewsbury railway station is around a 30-minute walk away, with bus services and matchday shuttles providing alternative travel options. Its location on the edge of town offers good road links and parking facilities, making it convenient for both home and visiting supporters.
