The Ground

  • Glanford Park, opened in 1988, has been the home of Scunthorpe United Football Club for over three decades, marking a historic shift for the Iron. When it was built, Glanford Park became the first newly constructed Football League ground in England since 1955, replacing the club’s old Old Show Ground. It symbolised a step into the modern era for Scunthorpe, providing improved facilities and the space needed to support the club’s ambitions across the Football League.

  • With a capacity of around 9,000, Glanford Park is modest in size but full of character. Its design features four separate stands in a traditional layout, offering close-up views of the action and ensuring a proper lower-league football atmosphere. The Clugston Stand serves as the main stand, housing the dugouts, hospitality areas, and the club’s offices. The Britcon Stand (often referred to as the Doncaster Road End) is home to the noisiest Scunthorpe fans, generating the atmosphere that drives the team on. Visiting supporters are typically accommodated in the AMS Stand, while the Lincolnshire Co-op Stand completes the ground with additional seating and family-friendly sections.

  • Located just off the M181 motorway, Glanford Park is one of the easiest stadiums in the country to reach by car, with ample parking space on site. It sits around two miles from Scunthorpe town centre and the railway station, making it accessible for both local supporters and travelling fans.

  • Blue Bell Inn (Oswald Road, town centre). A classic Wetherspoons pub in Scunthorpe’s centre, about 2 miles from the stadium. Always busy on matchdays, it’s cheap, spacious, and a good meeting point for groups of supporters before heading to Glanford Park.
