The Ground

  • Old Trafford, famously nicknamed the “Theatre of Dreams,” stands as one of the most historic and revered football stadiums in the world. Located in Greater Manchester, it has been the legendary home of Manchester United Football Club since 1910, witnessing over a century of triumphs, heartbreaks, and unforgettable footballing moments.

  • With a current capacity of around 74,000, Old Trafford is the largest club football stadium in England. Its traditional four-stand design combines history with modern functionality, ensuring an unforgettable matchday experience. The Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, the stadium’s imposing main structure, honors the club’s most successful manager, while the Stretford End is renowned for its raucous and loyal support, creating an electric atmosphere that has spurred United through countless dramatic encounters in the Premier League and European competition.

  • Old Trafford’s architecture reflects its enduring status and constant evolution. Severely damaged during World War II, the ground was rebuilt and gradually expanded in the post-war years, transforming into the iconic arena it is today. Though steeped in tradition, the stadium also features modern amenities, from premium hospitality suites to upgraded facilities, balancing history with comfort for fans from across the globe.

  • Beyond the roar of matchdays, Old Trafford is a cultural landmark and a pilgrimage site for football enthusiasts. The Manchester United Museum & Stadium Tour offers visitors a journey through the club’s illustrious past, from the Busby Babes and the 1968 European Cup triumph to the Sir Alex Ferguson era of dominance and the legendary treble of 1999. Fans can explore the dressing rooms, walk down the players’ tunnel, and take a seat in the dugout, immersing themselves in the rich heritage of one of football’s greatest institutions.

Official Tickets

  • The primary method to get priority access to match tickets is through the club’s official membership scheme. Members can apply for tickets ahead of the general public and enter ballots for high-demand games. Membership doesn’t guarantee a ticket—but it's often your best shot if you’re planning ahead

  • General Sale Tickets (Rare Opportunities). A small number of tickets, especially for less high-profile cup games, may go on general sale—once members and season ticket holders have had their pick. These tickets are released only if there are still seats available after priority sales; they’re limited and rarely include marquee matches

  • Hospitality & Official Travel Packages. If you’re seeking a more lavish matchday experience—or are traveling from abroad—official hospitality or travel packages are a great option: SportsBreaks, the club’s official travel partner, offers match + hotel packages, including official tickets and hospitality experiences. P1 Travel, another authorised reseller, offers official seating in lounges like The Sports Bar, Executive Lounge, or Victoria Warehouse—usually bundled with food, drinks, and a comfortable experience. Additionally, Seat Unique is an official hospitality reseller offering premium “Seat Unique Club” packages with luxury seating, gourmet dining, and exclusive extras.

  • The club explicitly warns against purchasing from unauthorized resale websites or touts even if they appear legitimate because: tickets may be fake or invalid. You have no protection if something goes wrong

Before and After the Match

  • Sam Platts (Trafford Wharf Road, Salford Quays). A big matchday pub right by the canal and close to the stadium. Known for its large outdoor space, quick pints, and screens showing football, it’s one of the liveliest pre-match spots near Old Trafford.

Officially linked to the Class of ’92, Hotel Football offers a brilliant fan zone right outside the ground with bars, food stalls, big screens, and activities. Family-friendly, modern, and ideal for soaking up the build-up in the shadow of the stadium.

  • The Trafford (Chester Road) – A traditional United pub that’s hugely popular with locals and long-time supporters. It fills up quickly on matchdays, serving cheap pints and buzzing with a proper old-school football pub atmosphere.

  • The Tollgate (Seymour Grove) Around a 10–15 mins walk Slightly further out, this Greene King pub is a good option if you want a lively but less cramped spot than those immediately outside the stadium. A mix of fans gather here, with plenty of room inside and outside.

  • The Quadrant (Great Stone Road). About a 10 mins walk – A classic pre-match stop for Reds. It’s family-friendly, serves decent pub food, and has a big following among local match-going fans. Expect a packed, good-natured atmosphere on matchdays

  • The Lost Dene (Deansgate, City Centre) – Popular with United fans travelling in by train. It’s a central Manchester pub with big screens, good beer, and plenty of space, making it a common meeting point before catching the tram to Old Trafford.

  • The Briton’s Protection (Great Bridgewater Street, City Centre). A historic city-centre pub about 20 minutes from the ground (via tram). Known for its wide range of real ales and whiskies, it’s a favourite for fans who prefer a more traditional pint before heading to the stadium.
