The Ground

  • The Crown Ground, located in Accrington, has been the home of Accrington Stanley FC since 1968. Set within the heart of a proud Lancashire town, the stadium embodies the resilience and spirit of a community that has supported its club through decades of challenges, triumphs, and the unique journey of a team that famously returned to the Football League after years in non-league exile.

  • The ground has seen steady development over the years, transforming from a simple local venue into a recognised home within the English game. While it has undergone modernisation to meet league standards—particularly since Stanley’s return to the Football League in 2006—it has retained its authenticity and intimacy. Today, the Crown Ground has a capacity of just over 5,400, a size that perfectly balances the fierce devotion of Stanley supporters with the close-knit bond between club and community.

  • The stadium’s layout contributes to its unique identity. The Main Stand, running alongside the pitch, provides the core seating area for home fans, mixing modern facilities with traditional character. Behind one goal lies the Clayton End, a standing terrace and the beating heart of Stanley support, where chants and songs echo throughout the ground. Opposite the Main Stand is the Jack Barrett Stand, named after a club stalwart, offering covered seating that maintains the stadium’s sense of history. The Whinney Hill Terrace, usually allocated to visiting supporters, ensures a lively and competitive edge on matchdays. Together, these stands create a ground that, while compact, is full of personality and pride.

  • Despite its size, the Crown Ground remains deeply tied to its surroundings. Situated on Livingstone Road, close to the town centre, the stadium has long been a landmark for generations of Accrington supporters.
