Club History: Sportvereniging Roda Juliana Combinatie Kerkrade is the result of a merger in 1962 between two clubs, Rapid JC and Roda Sport. Rapid JC won the championship in 1954 with a team composed of former miners. Roda JC have won the cup twice. Roda achieved the most memorable European victory in 2002 in San Siro against the superpower AC Milan, where Roda JC beats Milan 0-1. After losing the first match 0-1 in Kerkrade and no goals in extra time, Roda JC looses on penalties. In the region of Limburg in The Netherlands, Roda JC is the most successful club in history, having the largest fan base and having the most beautiful stadium of the region. A great rival of MVV Maastricht and Fortuna Sittard, they have called one to the stands in the stadium “Miner Stand” (Koempeltribune) in honour of their supporters.
