Club History: Aberdeen FC, founded in 1903 through the merger of three local clubs, holds a unique distinction in Scottish football—they have never been relegated. While early success was limited, the club made its mark post-World War II under Dave Halliday, winning all major Scottish trophies. However, it was the 1980s, under the legendary Alex Ferguson, that Aberdeen reached new heights, securing three league titles, four Scottish Cups, a Scottish League Cup, and two European trophies—a golden era that cemented their place among Scotland’s elite.
Crest: Before 1972, Aberdeen FC had no official crest, though variations of the letters “AFC” appeared on kits in cursive styles. That changed in November 1972, when Aberdonian designer Donald Addison created a distinctive logo: The letter A shaped like a football goal, a crosshatched ball representing a goal being scored, the letters FC positioned beside the ball. This badge debuted on shirts around 1978 and remained largely unchanged until the mid-1980s when it was updated with: A circular border reading “Aberdeen Football Club”, the club’s founding year, 1903. n 1997, Aberdeen refined this design into its current version, ensuring a unified and recognizable identity. The two European trophies won in 1983 were honored in 2005–06, with the addition of two stars above the crest, symbolizing the club’s historic triump
