The Ground
Easter Road, nestled in the heart of Leith in Edinburgh’s north, has been the proud home of Hibernian Football Club since 1893. Known simply as “The Leith San Siro” to generations of Hibees, the stadium embodies more than a century of history, resilience, and green-and-white pride. For Hibs supporters, Easter Road is not just a football ground but a gathering place, a symbol of community, and a lasting monument to the club’s roots in Leith’s working-class heritage.
With a capacity of just over 20,000, Easter Road is famed for its sweeping stands and the intensity that builds within them. Behind the goals, the Famous Five Stand honours Hibs’ legendary forward line of the 1950s, and the Dunbar End houses the away support, creating a natural theatre of noise and rivalry. Running along the touchlines, the East and West Stands form the backbone of the stadium: the West Stand accommodating dugouts, hospitality, and club offices, while the East Stand rises steeply, providing some of the most imposing and atmospheric views in Scottish football. Together, they generate a sense of scale that still feels intimate, amplifying every chant into the streets of Leith.
Redeveloped in stages since the 1990s, most notably with the East Stand in 2010, Easter Road has balanced modernisation with tradition. The sightlines are sharp, the crowd feels close to the action, and when the team surges forward in a big game, the sound cascades around the ground in a tidal roar. From famous European nights to Scottish Cup triumphs, and from packed derbies to community events, Easter Road has borne witness to the highs and lows that define Hibs’ enduring story.
Uniquely set within a dense, historic neighbourhood, Easter Road is one of Scotland’s most accessible football venues. Edinburgh Waverley station lies within walking distance, frequent buses serve Leith Walk and London Road, and on matchdays the surrounding pubs and streets turn green and white in a tide of anticipation. From the first notes of “Sunshine on Leith” to the final whistle, the atmosphere radiates beyond Albion Road and Easter Road itself, proof that this stadium remains the heart and soul of Hibernian Football Club — and of Leith.

Around the Stadium
Before and After the Match
The Four in Hand (Easter Road). A proper Hibs stronghold, just along from the stadium itself. Packed wall-to-wall on matchdays, it’s green-and-white through and through with scarves, shirts and photos filling the walls.
The Hibs Club (Sunnyside). The official supporters’ club and social hub, right beside the ground. A members’ bar but often accessible with a guest pass; steeped in history and a bucket-list stop for Hibees.
The Persevere (Easter Road). A spacious, lively pub halfway down Easter Road, popular with home fans before and after games. Decent food, big TVs, and a mix of families and groups of supporters.
The Mash Tun (Easter Road). Modern, airy and craft-beer led, sitting just a short walk from the stadium. It’s a popular choice for younger fans and those after something different from the classic football boozer.
The Queen’s Head (Easter Road). Traditional and friendly, this pub leans local, drawing regulars and matchday Hibees alike. Smaller and more old-school, but a reliable pint before heading through the turnstiles.
The Regent (Montrose Terrace). Just off London Road at the top of Easter Road, this welcoming pub is known for good beer and friendly staff. A mix of locals and travelling fans, it’s a relaxed choice close to the action.
The Safari Lounge (Cadzow Place). Quirky, colourful and more food-focused than many nearby, this bar has character in spades. Great for mixed groups and a little alternative pre-match energy.
The Abbey Bar (South Clerk Street, Newington). A bit further away but often a hub for Hibs fans coming from the south side. Good beer, sport on the screens, and a lively post-match crowd heading back across town.
Tip: Just like with Tynecastle, pubs near Easter Road get very busy on matchdays, especially along Easter Road itself — so arriving early is wise.
