Chelsea FC Ground & Tickets

Ground: Stamford Bridge

Capacity: 40,173

Location: Fulham Road, London

Country: United Kingdom

The Ground

  • Stamford Bridge, nestled in Fulham, West London, has been the iconic home of Chelsea FC since its founding in 1905. Originally opened in April 1877 as an athletics venue for London Athletic Club, the stadium was transformed when the Mears brothers established Chelsea to occupy the ground

  • Today, the venue is owned by Chelsea Pitch Owners, a fan‑controlled entity that safeguards the stadium's future and ensures the club's continued presence at the sitese.

  • With a seating capacity of approximately 40,173, Stamford Bridge stands as one of London’s largest football stadiums, though it has seen a record attendance of 82,905 during a 1935 league match against Arsenal

  • Architecturally, the stadium reflects over a century of continuous evolution. Originally boasting plans for a capacity of up to 100,000—making it the second largest in the country—its initial layout included covered stands designed by Archibald Leitch and vast uncovered terraces.

  • Major renovations during the 1990s modernized the venue into its current all‑seater bowl design, while preserving the compact, steep-sided stands that contribute to its atmospheric matchday character .

Official Tickets

  • Chelsea Ticketing Membership is essential for priority access to match tickets. There are different tiers and each member accrues loyalty points. Top-tier matches equire more points to access.

  • Chelsea Ticket Exchange (Official Resale).  Opens about 4–5 weeks before kick-off at 11 am, closing on the last working day before the match around 3 pm. This platform allows members to purchase returned tickets at face value. Tickets are listed on the seating plan and can be bought quickly—but demand is high, often resulting in bots and fast purchases

  • Hospitality & Premium Packages. If matches are sold out, hospitality packages (including hospitality lounges, premium seating, and dining) are available through the official Chelsea website. These often include match tickets as part of the package and can be a good alternative if standard tickets are unavailable.

  • The club warns against using unauthorized third-party resellers like Vivid Seats and ticket tout websites. These can be penalized by the Premier League and Chelsea themselves
