The Ground

  • The Toughsheet Community Stadium, located in Horwich, Bolton, has been the home of Bolton Wanderers since 1997. Built to replace the club’s historic Burnden Park, the ground marked a new era for Wanderers as they stepped into the modern age of English football. Sleek, distinctive, and highly recognisable with its towering white steel cantilevers, the stadium has become one of the North West’s most iconic football venues, a symbol of both ambition and tradition.

  • Since its opening, the stadium has hosted not only Bolton’s rise to the Premier League but also European nights, international fixtures, and major events that placed the club firmly on the national stage. While thoroughly modern, it retains the sense of identity and pride that has long defined Wanderers supporters. Today, with a capacity of over 28,000, it balances size and modern amenities with the passionate backing of the Trotters faithful, creating a matchday experience that reflects the stature of a proud footballing town.

  • The stadium’s layout adds to its character. The North, East, and West Stands rise steeply to offer excellent sightlines, ensuring fans are always close to the action, while the South Stand serves as the main hub for hospitality, executive boxes, and the club’s central facilities. Away supporters are usually housed in the South Stand lower tier, ensuring a lively atmosphere when the home crowd fills the rest of the ground. Its sweeping roof design not only gives the ground its unmistakable silhouette but also helps to amplify noise, making big moments resonate throughout the arena.

  • Despite its modern feel, the stadium remains inseparable from the fabric of Bolton. Set on Burnden Way, just off the M61, it is surrounded by shops, hotels, and local streets, making it an easily accessible landmark for fans and visitors alike.
