The Ground

  • Holker Street, located in Barrow-in-Furness, has been the home of Barrow A.F.C. since 1909. Set in the heart of a proud Cumbrian town, the ground is closely tied to the resilience and spirit of a community that has stood by its club through more than a century of highs and lows. Modest in scale but rich in character, Holker Street reflects the enduring traditions of lower-league football in the North West, where loyalty and passion define the matchday experience.

  • The stadium has seen numerous changes across its history, from its early days as a simple field to becoming a recognised venue within the English game. While it has undergone modernisation to meet evolving safety and comfort standards, it retains an authenticity and intimacy that few grounds can match. Today, Holker Street has a capacity of just 6,500, a size that perfectly captures the balance between the fierce devotion of Bluebirds supporters and the close connection between club and community.

  • Holker Street’s layout contributes to its distinctive identity. The Main Stand runs alongside the pitch and serves as the focal point for home fans, combining seating with a traditional terrace feel. Behind one goal lies the Holker Street End, a gathering place for vocal Barrow supporters, while the Popular Side stretches opposite the Main Stand, providing covered terracing that amplifies the atmosphere. The Wilkie Road End, typically allocated to visiting fans, ensures matchdays carry the edge and competitiveness that define football at this level. Together, the stands form a venue that, while modest, is full of personality and pride.

  • Despite its relatively small size, Holker Street remains inseparable from its surroundings. Situated on Wilkie Road, close to the town centre and local streets, it has long been a landmark for generations of Barrow supporters.
