The crest history of LNZ Cherkasy reflects the club's unusual development from a small football team representing an agricultural company in Lebedyn into a professional club representing the city of Cherkasy. The evolution of its badges closely follows this transformation, with the original red-and-white identity eventually replaced by the distinctive purple, blue, pink and green branding used today.
Between 2013 and 2014, the club used a simple circular crest dominated by red, white and black. A traditional football occupied the centre, while the Cyrillic letters “ЛНЗ” (LNZ) appeared across the top. The word “ЛЕБЕДИН” (Lebedyn) was displayed at the bottom, emphasising the club's original connection with the village where it was established.
In 2015, LNZ introduced a completely redesigned visual identity. The circular badge was replaced by a traditional white shield outlined in blue. At its centre was a colourful abstract symbol incorporating blue, pink and green elements together with a football.
The Cyrillic abbreviation “ЛНЗ” appeared prominently beneath the symbol, with “ЛЕБЕДИН” written in smaller lettering below. This version represented a major move away from the conventional football imagery of the original badge and introduced the multicoloured identity that would become characteristic of the club.
A further transformation followed in 2021, corresponding with the club's transition into professional football and its growing association with Cherkasy. The crest was modernised into a sharper, more contemporary shield dominated by purple.
The familiar multicoloured symbol was retained but redesigned around the Latin letters “LNZ”, making the club's identity more internationally recognisable. The words “CHERKASY FC” were added underneath, formally shifting the geographical emphasis away from Lebedyn and towards Cherkasy.
The current badge therefore represents both continuity and transformation. The colourful graphic introduced during the club's Lebedyn period remains at its centre, while the purple shield, Latin lettering and Cherkasy name reflect LNZ's development into a modern professional football organisation.
LNZ Cherkasy Club History
Founded in 2006, LNZ Cherkasy is a Ukrainian football club that has experienced a remarkably rapid transformation from a small regional team into a Ukrainian Premier League club. Its history began not in Cherkasy itself, but in the village of Lebedyn in Cherkasy Oblast, where the team was closely connected with the agricultural company LNZ Group.
The club was originally established as FC Shpola-LNZ-Lebedyn and competed primarily in regional amateur football. Its identity was closely linked to Lebedyn, and the abbreviation LNZ originates from the Ukrainian name of the agricultural enterprise associated with the club.
For much of its early existence, LNZ competed in the Cherkasy regional championships rather than the national professional leagues. Gradual investment and organisational development allowed the team to become increasingly competitive, eventually establishing itself as one of the stronger amateur clubs in the region.
During the 2010s, LNZ began competing more regularly at national amateur level. The club enjoyed considerable success in the Ukrainian Amateur Championship and other amateur competitions, demonstrating that it was capable of progressing into professional football.
An important milestone came in 2018, when LNZ won the Ukrainian Amateur Cup. This achievement strengthened the club's reputation and demonstrated the progress it had made from its relatively modest regional beginnings.
The club's ambitions increased significantly around 2020–21. LNZ moved its football operations towards Cherkasy, the regional capital, and increasingly adopted the identity LNZ Cherkasy. The change provided the club with access to a larger stadium, supporter base and commercial environment.
In 2021, LNZ officially entered the Ukrainian professional league system, joining the Ukrainian Second League. The transition was accompanied by a new purple-dominated visual identity and a crest displaying “LNZ Cherkasy FC.”
Progress through the professional divisions was exceptionally fast. Following the disruption of Ukrainian football caused by the Russian invasion in 2022, LNZ entered the Ukrainian First League and immediately established itself among the promotion contenders.
During the 2022–23 season, LNZ finished strongly enough to qualify for the promotion play-offs, where it faced Inhulets Petrove. LNZ won the two-legged contest and secured promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League for the first time in its history.
The achievement was remarkable: only two years after entering professional football, LNZ had progressed to the highest level of the Ukrainian league system.
The club made its Premier League debut in 2023–24, competing against established Ukrainian teams such as Dynamo Kyiv, Shakhtar Donetsk, Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih and Chornomorets Odesa. Its arrival also restored regular top-flight football to the city of Cherkasy.
