The crest history of FC Rukh Lviv reflects the club's transformation from a small team based in Vynnyky, on the outskirts of Lviv, into an established professional club representing Lviv. Throughout this development, the club moved from a relatively traditional football badge to the distinctive minimalist black-and-yellow identity used today.
Between 2016 and 2017, Rukh used a detailed crest that strongly reflected its origins in Vynnyky. The upper section resembled a castle or city wall and displayed the foundation year 2003. Beneath it were red-and-black vertical stripes, the Cyrillic club name “РУХ” (Rukh) and “ВИННИКИ” (Vynnyky).
A large football formed the lower part of the badge, making this the most traditional football-oriented crest in the club's history. The design clearly identified the team as Rukh Vynnyky, before its later transition towards Lviv.
In 2017, Rukh introduced a completely new identity based around yellow and black, colours that have since become synonymous with the club.
The 2017–2019 crest was a circular yellow-and-black badge. The letters “RVL” appeared prominently at the top, while stylised vertical stripes occupied the left side. A lion appeared on the right, providing a strong visual connection with Lviv, whose historic symbol is the lion. The foundation year 2003 was displayed at the bottom.
This redesign represented an important transitional stage. The traditional imagery associated with Vynnyky was largely removed, while the lion and new colour scheme increasingly connected Rukh with the wider identity of Lviv.
In 2019, the club adopted another dramatically simplified crest. The circular badge, lettering, lion and foundation year were all removed from the principal symbol.
The modern emblem consists of a series of elongated black-and-yellow vertical shapes, creating an abstract oval form. The alternating stripes preserve an element of the previous crest but transform them into a much more contemporary graphic symbol.
Beneath the emblem appears the Ukrainian club name “РУХ”, together with the foundation year 2003. The minimalist design is unusual within Ukrainian football and gives Rukh a particularly distinctive modern visual identity.
The club's current black-and-yellow colours have consequently become an important part of its branding, appearing prominently on its kits, academy facilities and other club materials.

FC Rukh Lviv Club History
Founded in 2003, FC Rukh Lviv is a Ukrainian football club whose story began in Vynnyky, a town on the eastern outskirts of Lviv. From modest beginnings in regional and amateur football, Rukh developed rapidly into a professional organisation and eventually reached the Ukrainian Premier League.
The club was originally established as FC Rukh Vynnyky. For much of its early history, Rukh competed in regional competitions in Lviv Oblast, gradually developing into one of the strongest amateur teams in western Ukraine.
Rukh enjoyed considerable success at amateur level. The club won multiple Lviv Oblast championships and cups and became a leading force in the national amateur game. This period established the foundations for the club's later move into professional football.
A major milestone came in 2016, when Rukh entered the professional league system and joined the Ukrainian Second League. The transition was immediately successful. During the 2016–17 season, Rukh finished strongly enough to earn promotion to the Ukrainian First League after only one season at professional level.
The club subsequently established itself in the second tier while its ambitions continued to grow. During this period, Rukh increasingly shifted its identity away from the small community of Vynnyky towards nearby Lviv, one of Ukraine's largest and most important football cities.
In 2019, the club officially became known as FC Rukh Lviv. The change was accompanied by a modernised visual identity built around the distinctive black-and-yellow colours that remain associated with the club today.
The 2019–20 season became one of the most important in Rukh's history. The club finished high enough in the Ukrainian First League to secure promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League for the first time.
Rukh made its top-flight debut during the 2020–21 season. Competing against established clubs such as Dynamo Kyiv, Shakhtar Donetsk and Zorya Luhansk represented a remarkable transformation for a team that had been playing amateur football only a few years earlier.
Central to this philosophy is the Rukh Academy, developed near Lviv as a major training and youth-development complex. The club has invested heavily in facilities and coaching, with the objective of developing young Ukrainian players for both its first team and international football.
The club's progress has taken place against the extraordinarily difficult background of the Russian invasion of Ukraine since 2022. Lviv became an important centre for Ukrainian football because of its western location, although the city itself has also suffered missile and drone attacks. Rukh continued competing in the Ukrainian championship under these wartime conditions.
