The crest history of FC Mynai is closely connected to the club's identity as “Lysytsi” (The Foxes). Since the club's foundation in 2015, the fox has been the central element of its visual identity, while the light-blue and dark-blue colours have remained consistent through both versions of the badge.
Between 2015 and 2020, FC Mynai used a traditional shield-shaped crest with a light-blue background and dark-blue outline. A large running fox dominated the centre of the badge, directly representing the club's nickname.
A football appeared beneath the fox, clearly identifying the sporting character of the organisation. The founding year 2015 was positioned immediately above the ball, while the letters “FC” appeared near the top of the shield.
The club name “MINAJ” was displayed prominently on a blue ribbon running across the bottom of the crest. The design combined traditional football badge elements with the fox symbol that would become synonymous with the club.
In 2020, FC Mynai introduced a significantly modernised crest. The basic shield shape and fox were retained, maintaining continuity with the original identity, but several elements were simplified to create a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.
The football and lower ribbon were removed, allowing the fox to become the dominant feature. The animal was also redesigned with sharper lines and dark-blue, white and reddish-pink detailing, giving it a more dynamic appearance.
The club name “MINAJ” was moved directly into the centre of the shield in large capital letters. The founding year 2015 was repositioned at the top, while FC appears beneath the club name.
The redesign therefore represented an evolution rather than a complete change of identity. Both crests share the same fundamental characteristics: the shield, blue colour scheme, fox and foundation year 2015.
FC Mynaj Club History
Founded in 2015, FC Mynai is a Ukrainian football club from the village of Mynai, located near Uzhhorod in the western region of Zakarpattia. Despite representing one of the smallest communities in Ukrainian professional football, the club progressed remarkably quickly from amateur competition to the Ukrainian Premier League.
FC Mynai began competing in regional football shortly after its establishment. The club quickly became successful in competitions within Zakarpattia Oblast, building a team capable of progressing beyond the local amateur level.
The first major step came when Mynai entered national amateur competition. Strong performances demonstrated the club's growing ambitions, and in 2018 it was admitted to the professional ranks of Ukrainian football, entering the Ukrainian Second League.
Progress was extremely rapid. Mynai earned promotion to the Ukrainian First League after only one season in the third tier. Rather than simply consolidating at the higher level, the club immediately became a contender for another promotion.
During the 2019–20 season, Mynai produced the greatest achievement of its young history. The club won the Ukrainian First League championship, securing promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League for the first time. This meant that only around five years after its foundation, Mynai had progressed from local football to Ukraine's highest professional division.
The achievement was particularly remarkable because Mynai is a small village rather than a major Ukrainian city. The club suddenly found itself competing against established national powers such as Dynamo Kyiv, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zorya Luhansk and Chornomorets Odesa.
Mynai also attracted national attention through the Ukrainian Cup. During the 2019–20 competition, the club reached the semi-finals, where it was eliminated by Dynamo Kyiv. Reaching the last four while still playing outside the Premier League represented another significant milestone.
Life in the Premier League proved considerably more difficult. Mynai generally competed near the lower end of the standings and repeatedly fought against relegation. Nevertheless, the club managed to maintain a presence in the top division for several seasons.
Like every Ukrainian professional club, Mynai's development was heavily affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Its location in Zakarpattia, in the far west of the country close to the Slovakian border, meant the region was further removed from the principal areas of fighting, and western Ukraine became particularly important for the continuation of Ukrainian football.
The club eventually finished at the bottom of the 2023–24 Ukrainian Premier League and was relegated, ending its four-season spell at the highest level.
