Fehérvár FC Crest History
The earliest known crest, used in 1960, featured a shield in the club's traditional red and blue colours. It displayed the initials VTV (VT Vasas) in the upper section, the name Videoton, the founding year 1968 (reflecting the beginning of the Videoton era), and Székesfehérvár at the bottom. The badge represented the club's close association with the local Videoton electronics company, which would shape its identity for decades.
In 1968, following the club's official renaming to Videoton SC, a new circular badge was introduced. At its centre stood a stylised running athlete, surrounded by the initials VT and decorative blue and red elements. The design reflected the sporting culture of the period and marked the beginning of the club's long association with the Videoton name.
Between 1970 and 1980, the crest was simplified into a bold square logo divided into four blocks containing the letters V, T, T, and V. Using the club's red, white, and blue colours, the geometric design reflected the modern corporate identity of the Videoton company and was unlike any other badge in Hungarian football.
From 1980 to 1990, the club adopted a shield-shaped crest featuring red-and-blue vertical stripes, the name Videoton SC, a stylised castle tower symbolising Székesfehérvár, and the founding year 1941. This version became one of the club's most recognisable emblems and was associated with the legendary team that reached the 1985 UEFA Cup Final.
Between 1990 and 1993, after the club became Videoton-Waltham FC, the badge was redesigned into a colourful shield featuring the castle tower, the initials FC, and the founding year 1991, reflecting both the new sponsor and the club's evolving identity following political and economic changes in Hungary.
From 1993 to 1995, during the Parmalat FC era, the club introduced a blue-and-red shield displaying the Parmalat FC name across the top, a football, the castle tower, and the years 1941 and 1993. The redesign reflected the arrival of Italian sponsor Parmalat while retaining references to the city.
Between 1995 and 1996, the crest changed again following another name alteration to Fehérvár Parmalat FC. The badge became a circular design with red-and-blue vertical stripes, the club's initials FC, and the words Fehérvár Parmalat, maintaining the sponsor's branding while placing greater emphasis on the city's identity.
From 1996 to 1997, after returning to the Videoton name, the club introduced a clean circular badge featuring the castle tower, FC, and the founding year 1996, surrounded by the words Videoton Fehérvár. This marked the beginning of a gradual return to the club's historic identity.
Between 1997 and 1998, the badge retained its circular form but adopted a red-and-blue split background behind the castle tower. The refreshed colours gave the crest a stronger visual identity while preserving the familiar civic symbol.
From 1998 to 1999, another minor redesign refined the same concept with improved proportions and typography, keeping the castle tower as the central element representing the city of Székesfehérvár.
Between 2002 and 2004, the circular badge was modernised once more, displaying Videoton FC Fehérvár, the castle tower, FC, and the original founding year 1941. The cleaner design reflected the club's renewed ambitions after a difficult financial period.
From 2005 to 2009, following the name change to FC Fehérvár, a completely new shield was introduced. The colourful badge featured the nickname VIDI, a football, the city's castle tower, and the founding year 1941, creating a more traditional football-style emblem while strengthening the club's local identity.
Between 2009 and 2013, after the return of the Videoton name, the club introduced a tall rectangular shield with vertical red-and-blue stripes, the Videoton FC wordmark, the castle tower, and 1941. This modern design became closely associated with the club's resurgence and domestic success.
From 2013 to 2018, the badge was refined with cleaner typography and simplified graphics while retaining the same striped layout and castle tower. This version accompanied the club through one of the most successful periods in its history, including multiple league title challenges and European campaigns.
In 2018, following sponsorship by the MOL Group, the club was renamed MOL Vidi FC and introduced a revised version of the rectangular crest. The only major change was the replacement of the Videoton wordmark with MOL VIDI, while the castle tower and founding year remained unchanged. Later that year, an unsponsored "VIDI FC" version was also used with identical artwork but without the sponsor's name.
From 2019 to 2025, after adopting the name Fehérvár FC, the crest was updated once again. The top wordmark changed to FEHÉRVÁR, while the familiar red-and-blue vertical stripes, the castle tower, and the founding year 1941 were retained. The redesign placed greater emphasis on the city rather than the long-standing Videoton brand.
Since 2025, the club has returned to the Videoton FC Fehérvár name and reinstated the Videoton wordmark on the familiar striped shield. The current crest restores one of the most iconic identities in Hungarian football while preserving the castle tower of Székesfehérvár and the founding year 1941, reconnecting the club with the name under which it achieved its greatest domestic and European successes.
Fehérvár FC Club History
Fehérvár FC, better known for much of its history as Videoton, was founded in 1941 in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, as Székesfehérvári Vadásztölténygyár SK, the sports club of a local ammunition factory. After the Second World War, the club underwent several name changes before becoming associated with the Videoton electronics company in 1968, a partnership that shaped the club's identity for the next five decades. The nickname "Vidi" became synonymous with the club and remains its most popular informal name today.
The club steadily established itself in Hungary's top division during the 1970s and achieved national prominence in the 1980s. Its greatest international achievement came during the 1984–85 UEFA Cup, when Videoton produced one of the most remarkable European campaigns by a Hungarian club. On the way to the final, they eliminated Dukla Prague, Paris Saint-Germain, Partizan Belgrade, Manchester United, and Željezničar Sarajevo before facing Real Madrid. Although they lost the final 3–1 on aggregate, Videoton famously won the second leg 1–0 at the Santiago Bernabéu, remaining the only Hungarian club ever to win a European final match at Real Madrid's stadium.
Following the political and economic changes in Hungary during the 1990s, the club experienced financial instability and underwent numerous ownership and name changes, including periods as Videoton-Waltham, Parmalat FC, and FC Fehérvár. Despite these difficulties, the club remained a regular competitor in the Hungarian top flight and gradually rebuilt its sporting foundations.
A new era of success began in the late 2000s under owner István Garancsi. Fehérvár won its first-ever Hungarian league title in 2010–11, followed by further championships in 2014–15 and 2017–18, establishing itself as one of Hungary's dominant clubs alongside Ferencváros. During this period, the club also won the Hungarian Cup in 2006 and 2019, multiple League Cups, and Hungarian Super Cups, while regularly qualifying for UEFA competitions.
The club enjoyed several memorable European campaigns during the 2010s. It reached the UEFA Europa League group stage in 2012–13 and 2018–19, competing against some of Europe's strongest clubs and enhancing its reputation on the continental stage.
In 2018, the club was renamed MOL Vidi FC following increased sponsorship from the MOL Group. One year later it became MOL Fehérvár FC, before shortening its name to Fehérvár FC in 2023 after the sponsorship agreement ended. In 2025, following municipal ownership and with the approval of Videoton Holding, the club officially restored its historic name, Videoton FC Fehérvár, reconnecting with the identity under which it achieved its greatest domestic and European successes.
The 2024–25 season proved one of the most difficult in the club's modern history, as Fehérvár was relegated from the Nemzeti Bajnokság I after 26 consecutive seasons in the Hungarian top flight. The relegation prompted major organisational changes, including a change of ownership and the restoration of the historic Videoton name as part of the club's rebuilding project.
Fehérvár's principal rivals are Ferencvárosi TC, Újpest FC, Debreceni VSC, and Puskás Akadémia, while matches against nearby Győri ETO FC also carry regional significance.
