The first crest associated with the modern era of Athens Kallithea FC, used from 2013 to 2022, retained the club's traditional identity established after its foundation in 1966. The badge took the form of a blue heraldic shield crossed by a white diagonal sash containing five red stars. The founding year 1966 appeared in the upper section, while the club's name was written in Greek (Γ.Σ. Καλλιθέα) near the bottom. The blue-and-white colours reflected the club's traditional identity, while the five stars represented the five clubs that merged in 1966 to create GS Kallithea. In 2022, following the club's rebranding as Athens Kallithea FC, a completely new visual identity was introduced. The traditional shield was replaced by a minimalist monogram built around an abstract AK design, accompanied by the founding year 1966. Inspired by modern graphic design and the city's contemporary cultural identity, the emblem deliberately departed from traditional football symbolism. Athens Kallithea FC Club History
Founded in 1966, Athens Kallithea Football Club was created through the merger of five local clubs from the municipality of Kallithea: Esperos, Iraklis, AE Kallitheas, Kallithaikos, and Pyrsos. The merger aimed to establish a single, stronger football club capable of representing one of Athens' largest suburbs in the national championships. The club adopted the traditional blue and white colours and quickly became an important football institution in southern Athens.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Kallithea established itself in the Greek national divisions, gradually progressing through the football pyramid. The club earned promotion to the Alpha Ethniki (now the Super League) for the first time in 2002, marking the beginning of its most successful period. Between 2002 and 2006, Kallithea spent four consecutive seasons in the top flight, competing regularly against Greece's biggest clubs and earning a reputation for disciplined football despite operating with limited financial resources.
Following relegation in 2006, the club spent many years alternating between the Second Division and the lower national leagues. Financial difficulties and inconsistent performances prevented an immediate return to the Super League, but Kallithea remained respected for its youth development and strong local identity within the Athens football landscape.
A new era began in 2021 when the club was acquired by American businessman Andrew Barroway. Extensive investment was made in the club's sporting project, infrastructure, branding, and international profile. In 2022, the club officially rebranded as Athens Kallithea FC, introducing a modern visual identity that attracted worldwide attention and reflected its ambition to become one of Greece's most progressive football organisations.
The sporting project quickly produced results. Under coach Massimo Donati, Athens Kallithea won promotion to the Greek Super League in 2024, ending an 18-year absence from the country's top division.
