FC Fredericia Crest History

The first official FC Fredericia crest was introduced in 1991, following the formation of the club through the merger of football departments from several Fredericia clubs, including Fredericia fF, Fredericia KFUM and Fredericia Fremad. The circular badge featured the club's red-and-white colours together with a silhouette of The Landsoldat (The Infantryman), one of Fredericia's most famous landmarks commemorating the Battle of Fredericia in 1849. Horizontal red stripes, the club name and the founding year completed the design, establishing a strong visual connection between the new club and the city's history. This crest accompanied FC Fredericia through its formative years and its rise into Denmark's national league system.

In 2005, FC Fredericia unveiled a completely redesigned crest to mark a new era of professionalism. The new shield-shaped badge introduced a striking red lion's head, inspired by the lions found in Fredericia's municipal coat of arms, while crossed swords referenced the city's proud military heritage as Denmark's historic fortress town. A black upper section displayed the club name and founding year, giving the crest a stronger and more modern appearance. The redesign coincided with the club's growing ambitions in the Danish 1st Division and became closely associated with two decades of steady progress, culminating in the club's historic promotion to the Danish Superliga in 2025.

In 2025, following promotion to the Danish top flight for the first time in the club's history, FC Fredericia introduced a refreshed visual identity. The new circular crest retained the familiar red lion and the crossed swords but simplified every element using cleaner lines and a minimalist graphic style. The founding year 1991 was incorporated into the upper part of the badge, while the predominantly red-and-white colour scheme reflected both the club's traditional colours and the city's historic identity. The redesign formed part of a wider rebranding that celebrated FC Fredericia's arrival in the Superliga while creating a modern identity suited to the club's next chapter.

FC Fredericia Club History

Founded on 3 January 1991, FC Fredericia was established as a football superstructure bringing together the senior teams of Fredericia fF and Fredericia KFUM, with the aim of creating a single club capable of representing the city at the highest level of Danish football. The project united two long-standing local rivals under one banner and immediately received strong backing from both the municipality and local sponsors. Beginning life in the Denmark Series, the club earned promotion to the 2nd Division in its inaugural season, laying the foundations for steady long-term progress.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, FC Fredericia established itself as one of Denmark's most consistent clubs outside the Superliga.  In 2003, Fredericia fF withdrew from the original superstructure before later returning to the project alongside KFUM, ensuring the club continued as the city's unified football representative. 

The greatest achievement in the club's history came in 2025, when FC Fredericia secured promotion to the Danish Superliga for the first time. After more than three decades of gradual development, the club finally reached Denmark's top flight, marking a historic milestone for football in Fredericia. Promotion coincided with investment in the club's infrastructure, including the expansion of Monjasa Park, and confirmed FC Fredericia's emergence as one of Denmark's fastest-rising football clubs.

FC Fredericia's biggest rivalry is with nearby Kolding IF, with meetings between the two clubs known as the Triangle Region Derby (Trekantsderby). The rivalry is fuelled by the close proximity of the cities and their long-standing battles in Denmark's second tier. Encounters with Vejle Boldklub also attract considerable local interest, while matches against AC Horsens have become increasingly significant due to frequent promotion races in recent years.
