Newport County AFC Ground & Tickets

Ground: Rodney Parade

Capacity: 7,850

Location: Rodney Road, Newport

Country: United Kingdom

The Ground

  • Rodney Parade, situated in the heart of Newport, South Wales, has served as the home of Newport County AFC since 2012. Located just a short walk from the city centre and flanked by the River Usk, it is one of the oldest sporting venues in the United Kingdom, steeped in history and shared sporting heritage.

  • Originally opened in 1877, Rodney Parade has long been a multi-sport stadium, traditionally associated with rugby union and the iconic Newport RFC. It became a football venue in the 20th century, and after Newport County's return to the Football League in 2013, the ground has become an enduring symbol of the club's revival. Although designed with rugby in mind, the stadium has been gradually adapted to accommodate EFL football while retaining its traditional structure.

  • Today, Rodney Parade is operated by the Welsh Rugby Union, which owns the stadium. With a capacity of around 7,850, it is one of the more compact grounds in the league, known for its passionate and resilient fanbase, who often brave challenging weather conditions to support the Exiles. Its central location and historic feel make it a distinctive venue on the EFL circuit.

  • The stadium features four main stands, including the Bisley Stand (main seating area), the Hazell Stand with a mix of seating and terracing, the North Terrace for standing supporters, and the South Stand, which typically accommodates away fans.
